Hello Backers!

 

We wanted to let everyone know that the last day to make final updates to your order will be Monday, December 13th.  After this date, we will lock your reward selections in Backerkit as we start to prepare orders for shipment from the factory.  You can still update your shipping address until we lock addresses for shipping at a later date.

 

As a reminder, we have not yet charged the credit cards on file in your backer kit surveys for shipping and any add ons that were selected during the survey.  During the initial survey we only collected payment information - we have not yet processed any payments.

 

This charge will appear on your bank statement as AERI OUTDOORS.  Please make sure that you have the correct card information on file.  If any issues arise with your payment you’ll receive an email letting you know how to correct your payment information.

 

If you haven’t answered your survey yet, please complete it by this upcoming Monday, December 13th.  If your survey is filled out after this date, we will still receive your information but your shipment may be delayed and your preferred canopy color choice may not be available.

 

If you need to review your information or pledge status, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://aeri.backerkit.com.

Hello Backers,

We hope everyone is safe, healthy, and getting ready for the holiday season!  We are pleased to announce that our BackerKit surveys are now available for our international backers.  We really appreciate your patience as we worked to line up the right partners to ensure a seamless experience with regards to warehousing, VAT, and efficient local delivery.  This process has taken us longer than anticipated in light of the recent changes to EU VAT policies.  That being said, you should be receiving your survey directly from BackerKit in the coming days.  Please keep an eye on your inbox, but if for some reason you do not receive the survey please contact https://aeri.backerkit.com for a quick resolution.  Please see additional details below regarding these surveys.

 

EU, UK, Australia and Canada

For our backers located in the EU/UK, Australia, and Canada all canopies and accessories will be “Delivered Duty Paid” with no additional charges due upon delivery.  All applicable duties, VAT, and shipping fees will be directly processed on the BackerKit surveys.  

 

Other International Countries (Non USA)

Backers located in other countries will be responsible for any applicable duties/taxes upon delivery from the courier.  We are unable to advise on the amount of these duties as they vary by location.

 

USA Backers

Thank you all very much for quickly completing your surveys!  If you have already submitted your survey nothing additional is needed at this time.  A quick reminder even though the surveys have been submitted, no credit/debit cards have been charged yet.  We will begin locking orders and charging cards this week as we are getting closer to shipping.  The charge will appear on your statements as “AERI OUTDOORS”.

For any backers who have not yet completed their surveys, please do so as soon as possible.  

 

Production Update

Production is proceeding smoothly and we are still on track for the first canopies to be completed towards the end of December.  We are very pleased with the quality of the mass production test units we have been receiving from our factory partners, and are looking forward to sharing this excitement with our backers very soon.

Hello Backers!

Thank you for all your comments and thoughtful feedback from our last update. We enjoy hearing from all of you and know that everyone is very excited to receive their canopies!

With this detailed update we are going to provide to you the clearest understanding of the challenges and the general production environment we are operating in. In addition we will be detailing what steps we have employed to help in mitigating further delays in this very challenging and fluid global environment.

 

The Good News:

At this point, we are now in the fortunate position where all of our required components for mass production are currently on hand.  We took some calculated risks earlier this year by making deposits for the majority of our raw materials with the hope that everyone would be as excited about Aeri as we are.  Those risks paid off, as many of these raw materials are currently in high demand and short supply - particularly the IC chips for our air pump and the PVC for the beams. 

 

The polyester fabric was the last raw material that we were waiting on for final production.  The fabric procurement process took longer than anticipated due to factories not running at full capacity due to Covid protocols following the late-summer outbreak in Jiangsu.

 

We thought it would be exciting to share a few photos from our production in process:

The  Latest Challenge:

At the end of September just prior to the Golden Week holiday, China began to experience power outages and rolling blackouts that have slowed and even closed factories as energy demand from a re-opening economy exceeded available supply.  This issue has been exacerbated by rising energy costs as well as efforts to move away from fossil fuels and toward renewable energy sources.  Currently, our factories only have access to electricity 50% of the time, and needless to say this has significantly slowed down production.

This issue is widespread, affecting the manufacturing process everywhere from Crowdfunding campaigns to Fortune 500 companies.  We’ve shared a few links below should you wish to learn more about the situation:

How Are We Addressing This:

In an effort to mitigate delays caused by these power limitations, our engineering team on the ground has spent the last few weeks working with a secondary source for production.  Bringing this factory on-board will enable us to re-capture some of that lost production capacity and minimize excessive delays.

 

Shipping & Logistics:

We now anticipate Aeri’s to ship from the factory in December.  The supply chain situation has been very fluid and changing almost daily, which has made it difficult for us to accurately forecast our delivery estimates.  We now feel very confident in this updated production timeline, but please consider that this is subject to change (for better or worse) depending on external factors.

 

Another challenge we are facing is the unprecedented global shipping surge which is resulting in un-reliable vessel schedules, shipping container shortages, and port delays.

 

In working with our trusted freight partner of many years, they are advising the following estimates for shipping from origin port to our drop ship warehouse:

  • 60 days for ocean transfer and destination port clearance
  • 7 days for container recovery and preparation for drop ship
  • 3-5 days for final mile delivery to you

Under normal circumstances, all of the above activities would be a 30 day process, but the logistics environment is stressed more than it has ever been.  We will be working closely with our forwarder to improve wherever we can.

 

We are thankful for your patience as we continue to steward Aeri’s production through these global challenges in the supply chain. We will continue to provide you with meaningful updates as we drive Aeri’s production to completion. With that said, we are very sorry that we could not meet our original fulfillment schedule.  Our team is fighting hard every day to deliver your canopies as soon as we possibly can.

Hi Everyone,


We thought it might be helpful to provide some context on Aeri canopy shipping charges and a breakdown of the various components that went into the final costs shared in the BackerKit surveys.

 

The shipping carton dimensions are 20.5x16.5x12.6 and the shipping weight is 21 lbs.

 

Current ocean freight rates are at record levels of approximately $25,000 per 40’ container from China to the West Coast.  780 Canopies fit in each shipping container which comes out to approximately $32/canopy in ocean shipping charges.  Domestic shipping from our warehouse to the backer is another $28.00.  Additionally, we incur import duties and pick and pack charges from the warehouse to prep and ship the items.  All of these costs add up to more than $60 per Aeri and we are subsidizing these costs for our backers wherever we can.

 

The accessories are shipped separately via USPS at an average cost of $6/unit.  This does not include the overseas shipping portion which we are fully covering.

 

As mentioned on the campaign page and at checkout, we elected to not charge shipping during the campaign so we could provide backers with accurate costs in a fast moving logistics environment.  We apologize if there was any confusion and share in your frustration in these relatively high charges.

Your BackerKit Surveys have been released! Please keep an eye out on your inbox as you will be receiving your unique link to your survey via email. 

It’s important to respond to your survey timely since we need this information to fulfill your rewards.

As a reminder, you don’t need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey. When you receive the email with the survey, click the survey link to respond. Answer the questions about your Aeri color choice, provide shipping details and payment, and purchase additional add-on items if you like.

After you respond to your survey, you can go back later and change your responses at any time before we close the surveys and get our final counts.

If you need to review your information or pledge status, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://aeri.backerkit.com. Additionally, you can use this link to reach our BackerKit team if you need help with your survey as well.
